Installing landlines on stands at exhibition sites do not make any sense now that virtually all show sites are well served by GSM/GPRS cellular networks. You have to order a landline weeks before the show; it is invariably installed just before the show starts; you don't know what the phone number will be and it is generally very expensive to install and use. In comparison a Burnside Desktop Mobile can be installed at any time by the exhibitor; everybody knows the phone number well in advance so the number can be listed on sales literature and web site. The terminal can be installed in minutes, can be connected to virtually any kind of touch tone phone or answering machine and most importantly the stand manager can insist that staff do not commit the cardinal sin of answering their mobile phone in the company of stand visitors.
The Desktop Mobile also serves as a text terminal and as a GSM/GPRS modem providing access to email, pc fax, internet and VPNs.
