Burnside Robson PBX - Reviews & Testimonials

 pictureMacreviewzone 08 September 2003
We bought a Robson PBX from Burnside Telecom, as we needed independence from BT's services and a flexible system that can adapt to our needs.
The Robson PBX is just that system. For us, the device is now set up for our current usage. We have four extensions to which we can easily route calls. The answer phones on each extension have proved very useful, as has the direct extension calling, which many of our clients use.
In use, the Robson is soooo easy. A voice menu simply takes you through the options. After some use, you remember the options and can fly through the settings without having to wait for the machine to talk to you.
One feature that is really cool is on the answer phone. By using the 4 and 6 buttons on the phone you can rewind (4) and forward wind (6) the message - very useful when someone is mumbling a phone number. You can also play messages at a higher speed - this is amazing, as the pitch doesn't rise and you can still understand the message.
There is so much more that this device can do. I'm sure we only use a quarter of its features, but those alone make it excellent value and very worth while. For the small, or even bigger business, home use or wherever, this is a highly recommended device.

"If you're running a business from home with several extensions and want to be able to give a series of options to callers, a small switchboard could be the answer. Alan Denbigh recommends the Robson. which offers extensions, user-recordable product info and the option of redirecting calls back onto the network."

'First impressions are important. For a virtual organisation trying to create the impression of one cohesive band of experts ie trying to knit together employees or freelancers in different places, the Robson could be just the answer....We have had one to play about with over the last month though in fact in under an hour it was almost completely set up and ready to go - (we suspect most techies would be disappointed by this !)....For us this product survives the user flexibility test for two reasons; one it does more or less everything we've tried to do with it and two we've lost the instruction manual and yet the voice guidance is so well thought out that it doesn't matter !......'

'Mix work and home comforts. Ban kids from the home office. When Penny Jenkin picked up the phone to her boss in her home office, she was appalled to hear that her four-year old had beaten her to it on kitchen extension. "It was embarrassing, because as a career woman working at home two days a week, you do everything you can to give impression that you are a professional machine, beavering away in your own office, with children in the care of their nanny in another wing. Of course reality is often that you are sitting in your dressing gown, surrounded by toys, trying to stop the toddler pulling the computer plug out". Ring fence your office as a child-free zone.'

'All I can say is wow! What a winner you have in Robson. I have attended a
number of press briefings about soho phone systems, but none offer such a rich
array of features and benefits as Robson'
Nigel Sergent - Editor in Chief.
