Burnside Technology for Taxis and AirportsIn addition to rail and marine users, Burnside products are being used in other transport industries, where our technology can make a genuine contribution to streamlining communications. On the RoadTaxi and delivery drivers spend most of their time out of the office, and have to make extensive use of mobile phones to keep in touch with their companies and customers. In the case of a small company, where the office is often unmanned, important calls can be missed and business lost. One solution is to use a Burnside T940L Fixed Cellular Terminal equipped with the Burnside Follow Me™ option. This enables landline calls to be received at the office and forwarded immediately to a driver's mobile, often at no extra cost. This is how Follow Me saves money: if the SIM in a Burnside Fixed Cellular Terminal is on the same network as the driver's mobile phone and a group tariff is being used, then calls to the mobile can be unlimited and at no additional cost. Alternatively, a tariff can be used that provides more inclusive call minutes than are normally used. More details about selection of tariffs can be found in Case Study #5. In companies where drivers are working in shifts, it is easy to change the destination mobile number for Follow Me™ at any time - just send an SMS text message to the terminal in the office, specifying the new number. You can read a more complete description of the benefits of Follow Me™ in our Case Study section, or download the Taxi & Private Hire application sheet. At the AirportThe Burnside P400 GSM Tough Phone is an ideal phone to use for staff management and for customer services at airports. It can be used as a bridge between landline and mobile phones, and is designed as a rugged and weatherproof unit for use in demanding environments. It can be supplied by Burnside in various programmable button configurations, with an auto-dial facility. |
